It is pixel-based, and offers an extensive GUI that is functionally similar to Windows Explorer, making it well suited to widescreen displays. However, higher resolutions are locked by default, and you must download a fanmade patch to enable these resolutions, which holds the grade back to a C.--The Cranky Hermit 01:20, 11 March 2010 (UTC) Radeon HD5870 Benchmark - Driver Comparison: 9.11 vs. 10.3 PreviewWhile performing a ton of benchmarking on the Radeon 5xxx series, I noticed that the 5850 and 5830 were outperforming the 5870 I had tested months ago. Figured that newer drivers were the reason, I retested the HD 5870 1GB with the 10.3 Preview drivers, and found significant improvements in Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dirt 2, HAWX and the Night scene from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R Pripyat benchmark tool.--Ibrin 05:42, 10 March 2010 (UTC) AvP Classic 2000 - Grade BThe_cranky_hermit posted a Detailed Report for Aliens Versus Predator. The game was updated to offer proper support of both widescreen and multi-screen setups. The FMV cut-scenes are hard letter-boxed and run at 640x480 (which means they are window-boxed on a widescreen display). A small blemish that holds it back from perfection, but otherwise a good update to a classic game.--Ibrin 23:09, 8 March 2010 (UTC) Assassin's Creed II & Just Cause 2 have confirmed Surround/Eyefinity SupportWe have firm confirmation that both Assassin's Creed II and Just Cause 2 will both support Surround/Eyefinity. Assassin's Creed II has a "Day 0" patch (v1.01) that adds Eyefinity support. The Eyefinity support is called out in the patch notes, and will automatically download for the user. In addition, the HUD is centered on the middle monitor.The Just Cause 2 support confirmation is from a list of PC-specific enhancements that were provided as part of a Voodoo Extreme interview with Square Enix Community Manager Mike Oldman. In honor of these releases, we are posting the first of many themed WSGF logos. COD 5: World at Warscavvenjahh posted screenshots for Call of Duty 5: World at War. The game is Hor+ and has native support for 16:9 and 16:10. You can get 15:9 and Surround/Eyefinity support with Dopefish's Widescreen Fixer.--Ibrin 14:42, 2 March 2010 (UTC) ATI Partners Announce HD 5970 4GB at CebitAt Cebit this week vendors are starting to announce the release of 4GB versions of the Radeon HD 5970. The original HD 5970 was the first "CrossFireX on a single card" board released in the 5000-series line. It was essentially two HD 5870s in one package, with each GPU only having 1GB of VRAM.Many people through the extreme Eyefinity resolutions intended for the HD 5970 would be better served with 2GB of VRAM per GPU (another reason the Eyefinity6 has been so anticipated). The new 5970 (along with the Eyefinity6) solve that issue, and provide another option for users who are only looking to utilize three screens. This thread has been set up to discuss these releases. ATI Announces Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity6ATI announced the long awaited Eyefinity6. By and large the technical specs are the same. The differences are the 2GB of RAM, the six Mini-DP outputs and power consumption. Power has increased from the HD 5870 (188W/27W) to Max 228W and Idle 34W. The box also comes with an array of adapters from Mini-DP to other display types. A recent patch offers proper support of both widescreen and multi-screen setups. The real-time cut-scenes are still letterboxed (and windowboxed in Surround or Eyefinity). Otherwise, a good implementation.--Ibrin 14:55, 23 February 2010 (UTC) Dawn of War II - Grade BDem Pyros posted a Detailed Report for Dawn of War II. The game offers excellent widescreen support, with just the in-game cutscenes being Vert- (gameplay is Hor+). Surround and Eyefinity is supported with Hor+ gameplay as well, but the Vert- cutscenes become very apparent. Also, there are some interface issues at the ultra wide aspects. The squad load out screen is broken and requires the user to switch to a narrower resolution. Additionally, the HUD is split between the outer edges of the screen, and makes gameplay difficult.--Ibrin 20:07, 20 February 2010 (UTC) X-Motor Racing is Certifiedscavvenjahh completed a Detailed Report for X-Motor Racing. The game is Certified with proper Widescreen, Surround and Eyefinity support throughout. The game is an indie racing sim with a focus on complex car physics. The game has been used by semi-pro racing teams as a cost-effective way to test and fine-tune real vehicle setups.--Ibrin 19:39, 20 February 2010 (UTC) ATI Announced "Bezel Compensation" with Catalyst 10.3ATI announced that "Bezel Compensation" (aka Bezel Management) will be released as part of Catalyst 10.3. Bezel Compensation has long been requested by Eyefinity users, and will be delivered in mid-March as part of the next driver release. We've put up a ATI Catalyst Eyefinity Feature Changelog to track recent and upcoming features for Eyefinity users. I've also posted a YouTube Video on Bezel Compensation, how it's set up, and how it reacts to Eyefinity.Unlike the Bezel Management from the Matrox TripleHead2Go, the ATI Bezel Compensation doesn't remove vertical strips from the outside of the outer monitors. It actually adds to the horizontal resolution and fills all three monitors.
